Packaging is a highly visual medium, and artwork plays a central role in bringing it to life. In some cases, clients supply the artwork themselves; in many others, they ask us to create original illustrations tailored to the product and brand.
Simba Toys has a line of slime toys under its Glibbi brand. Each SKU features its own character artwork, while still maintaining a consistent overall style across the line. The existing art had served the brand well for many years, but Simba felt it was time to refresh the packaging with a new look. We were asked to develop concepts that would give the characters more personality, attitude, and emotional expression.
We presented a range of concepts, creating different characters in a variety of poses that showed children actively engaging with the product. The process involved numerous rough sketches and refinements, with close collaboration between our office in Canada and Simba’s team in Germany.
We then introduced the Glibbi characters and incorporated them into additional concepts to further strengthen the brand presence across the packaging.
Once the rough artwork was approved, we finalized the illustrations with ink and color, then integrated the finished art into the packaging files. From there, we extended the character system across additional SKUs, giving each one its own unique pose and expression while maintaining a cohesive visual identity.
The entire project was completed in less than 4 weeks.
